Great Escapes - About Us

Great Escapes, was founded in 2002. Dawn
and I have had many years experience in
the tourism and hospitality industry. We both started in the guest house industry
visiting many of the international trade shows and getting to know the
products and services that South Africa have to offer. Dawn founded
Africa Awaits in August 2000 and has been making dream holidays a reality
ever since. (SATSA number 1055). She is based in Wellington
near Cape Town in the wine lands and her friendly smile is there to meet
our guests at the Cape Town International airport. We
pride ourselves in being small and intimate so that we can assist you
on a personal level.

I have now returned to the UK and just wanted to say a big thank you to
Cherie, Mellanie and yourself for all your help - we had the most
wonderful honeymoon!! It was perfect - all of the accommodation was
beautiful and the food stunning and we were made to feel so welcome
everywhere we went.

My
weekend at Etali was fantastic! The service was flawless, the accommodation
exquisite and the game excellent. Their attention to detail and wonderful
hospitality made it possibly the best lodge we have stayed at! We enjoyed it
so much that we decided to stay an additional night. I have already referred
two other couples who are going in the next month or two ( i have given them

Dear Dawn Cherie and Mellanie,
Thanks to you all for your help in
arranging one of the best holidays we have ever had. We crammed in a lot
so it was hectic at times, but I wouldn't have missed a minute......
And that, alas, was our last stop. We
were blessed with good weather for almost the entire trip and were
fortunate to be the only guests staying at Three Tree, Fugitives and White
Elephant, which probably made a bit of a difference to the experience and
took the pressure off us to keep the children on tight leashes! We have
vowed to return some day - what a wonderful country you live in!
All the arrangements you made on our
behalf worked out really well and your suggestions for accommodation were
perfect as I am aware that the arrival of such a large contingent of
little ones would not necessarily be welcome in every establishment!
