Makakatana Bay Lodge: Is an exclusive bush
lodge situated on the banks of the greater St Lucia wetland park, recently
declared a world heritage site. This owner run lodge is the only privately owned lodge
situated within the conservation reserve. The land on
which the lodge lies has been in the Morrison family since the 1930's and the
Lodge is now the proudly run by Hugh and Leigh-Ann Morrison.
Makakatana Bay Lodge consists of 5
private suites of which 2 have lake views and the other 3 are situated in
indigenous forest. They are connected by raised wooden walkways so
as not to disturb the environment. Dining under the african skies in
the boma and with a wine cellar in the "old crab house"
Makakatana Bay Lodge is bound to memorable experience.
AFTERNOON
Afternoon
the
banks of the
16h00 - Tea, then Depart for
19h30- 20h00 Return to Lodge & head straight to the boma for
dinner.
This drive is particuallarly focused on viewing Hippo and other smaller wetland animals.
BEACH
SAFARI
After Breakfast depart Lodge. Guests Enjoy a slow safari drive to
the Eastern Shores heading through the Greater St Lucia Wetland
Park Reserve. Arrive at a Private Beach for swimming
& snorkelling. Enjoy a picnic lunch then a slow game drive
back to the Lodge. Afternoon siesta or leisure time at the pool
on lakes edge.
(This is a combination safari which includes a game drive and beach
experience. Kwz-Zulu Natal Summers are gloriously hot and they
have tried to combine a full morning out within this
Brunch is served at a shaded picnic site & Game veiwing searching for Big 5 continues.
Return back to the lodge in the early afternoon for a Light lunch. Afternoon siesta or leisure time at pool on lakes edge.
(In summer the best game viewing is done early in the morning & evenings). 16h00 - Afternoon Tea is served. At guests requests this Safari is sometimes longer & guests return at about 3pm.
