The Manyeleti conservancy spans over
22000 ha and borders onto the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sand and Timbivati Game
Reserves, as there are no fences the animals roam free. It is home to
the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Black Rhino)
It is drier here than the southern part of Kruger so animals can often
be seen at the water holes.
The reserve is owned by the Msini
tribe with private concessions to the various lodges in the reserve.
The Name Manyeleti is a Shangaan name meaning, the "Place of stars"
on a clear winters night the skies twinkle with Stars.
Note that operators in Manyeleti are
restricted in the areas in which they may drive off-road in pursuit of
game.
