Directions to Phantom Forest (from Cape Town): Take the N2 from Cape Town towards Port Elizabeth. Go through the towns of Mossel Bay, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield. Sedgefield to Knysna is +- 20 min or 20km. As you start approaching Knysna, you will see on the left hand side, a sign saying: Phantom Pass/Belvidere/Brenton-on-Sea. Take this road, the turn-off will be left off the N2 and before you cross the flat road-bridge over the Knysna lagoon. Almost immediately after turning left, the road will fork (be careful because it happens quite quickly). Take the left fork (i.e. straight on) and carry on for 1.2km (i.e. you DO NOT take the right fork which goes under the bridge). The businesses you will pass on left will be: Lagoon View Nursery (which is on the corner of the N2 and the Phantom Pass road); Phantom View Lodges; Knysna Garden Hotel (a.k.a Madibas Tide hotel) and then a bushy area which will stretch for about 300m. You will then see Phantom Forest’s wooden sign on the left saying The Phantom Forest and just behind that, a sculpture of two bushpigs on a penningfarthing. Turn left into the entrance. On the right will be the car park and on the left the Gatehouse. Park your car and approach the Gatehouse. If the Gatehouse is not staffed, please see attached to the wall a green telephone. When picked up it will automatically ring to the Lodge which is up on the hill. When someone answers, tell them you are checking in / have a dinner reservation and ask for a car to be sent down to collect you...
